MHM -57/F's 5K debut -- Sat. Aug. 14

[Took Friday off as an extra rest day, given the race ahead and general busyness at home. . .]

Out to Yankee Candle for the debut performance of F in a timed race! Did a bit of a warmup myself, then at the race went as a bandit (saving $25!) to keep pace: Nick D and various other old regulars were there, quite a social event, for all that tons of people were up in Shelburne Falls for the BoF (including Bill and Ivan). We took it very steady, and F finished in 35:06 (just a little slower than R and S in their inaugural 5Ks, but she *enjoyed* it). Then I went off for some more miles, also all road, and still at a gentle pace, aiming to complete weekly mileage more or less without taking the edge off for tomorrow's race. Totals:

Time: 1:20:05
Distance: 9.26 miles
Pace: 8:39s

Comment: a few miles short of the 55 target for the week, but good enough. Comfortable and not too tired, although not exactly *raring* to go. . . This was a perfect day for running, barely 70 deg. and all round pleasant. Next year, this could be one to race, if I'm not doing BoF.
