It's May, 2012. I've neglected this blog for over a year now, so maybe it's time for some repurposing.
Here's a vestigial post from whenever I last tried to do some updating:
[backpost] up to Oleksak -- Apr. 1 ~ 3
Friday evening, April 1, went out for a short one, just to see how things were working after 5 whole days off. Managed 4.78 @ 8:07 pace, feeling functional if not strong.
So, Sat. April 2, another gentle run using both road and trail (for softness, nothing tricky) and clocked 7.5 miles @ 7:50 pace. Still cautiously optimistic about completing Oleksak, though not sure about competing.
Sunday morning, April 3, out to Westfield to test the ankle for duration and pounding resistance--mainly flat and smooth course, so I wasn't worried about other stresses. Figured I'd use the race as an mpace run, doing 7:10s or so. Started feeling pretty good, so opened it up a bit, and was running at more like race pace. First several miles were pretty good, and only after about 8 did it start to hurt a bit from all the pounding. Made it through to the end and was strong at the finish, with a good burst. Ended up with a time barely slower than
